“How I Met Your Mother” actor Nick Pasqual found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing estranged girlfriend

    Key points

    • Actor Nick Pasqual was convicted of attempted murder on Friday.

    • Pasqual, who appeared on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother, was also found guilty of forcible rape, burglary, and injuring a spouse after stabbing his estranged girlfriend multiple times.

    • If he receives the maximum sentence, he could face life in prison.

Nick Pasqual has been found guilty of attempted murder.

The actor, who appeared in a season 7 episode of How I Met Your Mother in 2011, was convicted Friday of every criminal charge that he faced in a case relating to an alleged May 2024 attack on his estranged girlfriend at the time, makeup artist Allie Shehorn.

Court records reviewed by Entertainment Weekly indicate that Pasqual was convicted of attempted murder and that the jury found two special allegations relating to the charge to be true: the cause of great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and the use of a deadly weapon.

The jury also convicted Pasqual of three counts of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiance, boyfriend, girlfriend, or a child’s parent, as well as one count of first-degree burglary.

Pasqual was also convicted of one count of forcible rape from a month before the attack. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

EW has reached out to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, representatives for Pasqual, and Shehorn for comment.

Pasqual’s trial lasted from April 27 until May 8. He is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on June 2 in Los Angeles. If he receives the maximum sentence, he faces life in state prison.

Shehorn took the stand to describe the incident in question last week. “I locked the door and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there’s another lock on that door,” she said during the trial, reported ABC News.

Shehorn had reportedly taken out a restraining order against Pasqual, alleging that the relationship had turned abusive prior to the attack.

Pasqual contributed to 44 episodes of the web sketch comedy show National Day Riff. He also appeared in small roles in projects like Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire; the Ashton Kutcher–starring Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs; and the dystopian drama The Road, according to his IMDb page.

Shehorn also worked on Rebel Moon as well as films such as Babylon and Mean Girls. After the attack, her friends launched a GoFundMe campaign to provide financial support for her medical bills. KTLA reported that she was stabbed more than 20 times, and the GoFundMe stated that she required breathing tubes and feeding tubes while she recovered in the hospital.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office said in 2024 that Pasqual was detained at a U.S./Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, after fleeing the scene of the crime in the Sunland neighborhood of Los Angeles.
