Six armed assailants on bikes stormed a Ranchi petrol station Sunday night, making off with approximately Rs 59,500. The masked criminals, brandishing sharp weapons, threatened female employees at the Dina fuel station in Pundag before fleeing. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and investigating to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, noting the station’s lack of security personnel despite having cameras.

Ranchi: Six unidentified miscreants, armed with sharp weapons, looted around Rs 59,500 from a petrol station in the Pundag area of Ranchi on Sunday night.The bike-borne criminals stormed the Dina fuel station near Sahu Chowk in Pundag and threatened women employees on duty and looted the cash.“The six of them stormed the fuel station wearing masks and helmets in two two-wheelers. The staff were caught off guard by the sudden attack and were forced to hand over the cash kept at the station. The criminals fled the scene soon after. However, no injuries were reported in the incident,” Pundag outpost in-charge Sanjeev Kumar said on Monday.Police reached the spot soon after they were informed and launched an investigation into the matter. “We have been investigating CCTV footage from the petrol pump and nearby areas to identify the miscreants and nab them. Efforts are also underway to track their movement and possible escape routes,” the station-in-charge added.The in-charge, however, said that although the fuel station has an adequate number of CCTV cameras, they lack security personnel to guard it.
