Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Sha in Colonel Sofiya Qureshi row named Republic Day event chief guest | Indore News

INDORE: A decision by MP govt to name minister Vijay Shah as chief guest for a Republic Day flag-hoisting ceremony in Ratlam has sparked a row. Congress has objected to the move citing Shah’s controversial remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, involved in Operation Sindoor press briefing, and SC’s subsequent scrutiny.“Responsibility of hoisting the Tricolour in Ratlam is being given to a minister like Vijay Shah, who used indecent and insulting words against the daughter of the country and brave Indian Army officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi,” Congress state spokesperson Santosh Gautam said. He highlighted SC’s intervention to set adeadline for the govt on prosecution sanction for Shah.BJP defended the govt’s decision while acknowledging ongoing investigations. “Govt has itself taken note of Shah’s statement and constituted an SIT,” state party spokesperson Yashpal Singh Sisodiya said, adding the SIT is scheduled to submit its reply to the top court within two weeks.
