The Flyers and Penguins will play Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series at 8 p.m. Saturday, the league announced. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
The series begins in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena, but the NHL has not released the full schedule, and the days and starting times for Games 2-7 are still unknown.
This year marks the eighth time there will be a “Battle of Pennsylvania” rivalry series in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Penguins, who tied with the Flyers with 98 points, qualified as the No. 2 seed in the Metropolitan Division and get home ice over the third-seeded Flyers based on the regulation wins tiebreaker.
This is a developing story. Please check back for further updates.
