ATP WTA Italian Open LIVE: Sinner vs Rublev & women’s semi-finals

Date:

The women’s semi-finals take centre stage at the Italian Open in Rome today, but alongside those, we also have the last of the men’s quarter-finals to enjoy, with Jannik Sinner looking to continue his incredible run. Follow all the action with us here!

21:54 CET – Daniil Medvedev will be the next man to try and put a halt to Jannik Sinner’s remarkable run, with the former US Open champion overcoming a huge test against young Spaniard Martin Landaluce.

Landaluce came flying out of the blocks, winning the first set 6-1 in just 26 minutes, but Medvedev regrouped to narrowly edge the next two in 49 and 69 minutes, respectively.

It was ultimately a deserved win, with Medvedev putting on the pressure for the majority of the clash after the opener.

17:00 CET – The drama isn’t over in Rome today. We have two late games to enjoy, with the last of the men’s quarter-finals and the second women’s semi-final still to come. You can follow those fixtures below:

Martin Landaluce vs Daniil Medvedev – 19:00 CET

Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina – 20:30 CET

16:33 CET – Coco Gauff is into the final of the Italian Open for the second year running!

The third-seeded American has ended Sorana Cirstea‘s brilliant run in Rome, winning their semi-final clash 6-4, 6-3 in under 90 minutes.

36-year-old Cirstea’s road to the last four was impressive, notably involving an upset of top seed Aryna Sabalenka, but she ran out of steam today.

Gauff won five break points (of six) in the match, as well as 74% of her first-serve points. She will face the winner of Iga Swiatek and Elina Sviotlina in Saturday’s decider.

14:45 CET – As most would have expected, Sinner has seen off Rublev without much trouble at all, claiming a 6-2, 6-4 win over just over 90 minutes.

The Italian’s serving was actually below its usual standard, with him getting just 49% of his first serves in, but he did win all but seven of the points on them and saved two out of three break points.

Sinner now has 32 consecutive wins at Masters 1000 tournaments, which is the most ever, with him breaking the record previously held by Novak Djokovic.

13:00 CET – Play is soon to get underway in Rome for the day, and the first match sees home favourite Jannik Sinner out to extend his absurd winning run against Andrey Rublev in the third of the men’s quarter-finals.

It’s hard to look past the Italian in this one; he’s won 26 matches in a row, and 31 Masters matches, too. He’s also won five of his last six meetings with Rublev, but the Russian will give it a red-hot go, that’s for sure.

08:00 CET – Hello and welcome to another day of coverage of the Italian Open in Rome! We have four huge matches to enjoy today, with the women’s semi-finals taking place, plus the last two of the men’s quarter-finals.
