Dhanbad: Residents affected by increasing cases of underground fire, land subsidence and gas leak in Dhanbad district have demanded immediate compensation and proper rehabilitation. Protests have been reported from several affected localities, with residents insisting on relocation to safer areas along with sustainable livelihood options.Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha warned of launching an agitation if prompt action is not taken. He demanded that affected families should be rehabilitated to places other than Belgaria township, preferably in BCCL areas. He also stressed the need for strict implementation of relief, rescue and rehabilitation policies. Sinha urged authorities to immediately repair the Dhanbad-Ranchi road damaged by subsidence in Kenduadih area. Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee announced that a delegation lead by him will meet the DGMS and the DC on Thursday to discuss the issue. He added that the matter would also be raised in the assembly.
