LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton posted to social media that he was recently hospitalized in Las Vegas for three weeks.
Hilton, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., shared several clips of himself in a hospital bed with tubes connected to his nose.
He thanked the doctors and nurses at Southern Hills Hospital for treating him, saying he received the “best care.”
“I would not be home already if it weren’t for you,” he says in the video.
Hilton detailed in a video published Monday that he had the flu for about a week and took his medication, but neglected to take it with food. This led to him developing an ulcer, which caused a perforation and sepsis.
The day before being hospitalized, Hilton described being in severe stomach pain. The next day, he couldn’t walk and was taken via ambulance to the hospital.
After about five days, he underwent laparoscopic surgery to find the perforation. Doctors also had to drain fluid from his lungs and treat another infection he contracted in the hospital.
“It was just such a slow process,” Hilton says in the video. “I mean, two weeks of just sickness and then another week of getting better before I was released. And that last week was hell.”
Despite being home, he said he still had to take antibacterial and antifungal medications and was being treated with an IV.
After this experience, Hilton said he has resolved to get more sleep on a nightly basis and spend more time with his family.
“Even making this video has taken a toll out of me, but I’m excited to get back to it,” he said. “Every day, I’ll get stronger. Every day, I’ll breathe better. Every day, the swelling will go down. Every day, my tummy will go down. It’s kind of huge right now still.
“And every day I will be grateful to God, grateful to my family, grateful to you all for sticking by me 22 plus years.”
