Honda Amaze bags 5 stars in BNCAP: Detailed results of Maruti Dzire’s key rival

The new third-generation Honda Amaze has secured a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and a 4-star rating for child safety under the Bharat NCAP crash-test programme. The tests were conducted on the V CVT, VX CVT and ZX MT variants, all of which were produced in India and weighed 1,241 kg during assessment.

Honda Amaze crash tests: Key details

The Amaze performed strongly across all major BNCAP evaluation categories. In adult occupant protection, it scored 14.33 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 14.00 out of 16 in the side impact test, giving it an impressive total of 23.81 out of 24 in dynamic safety. Honda’s use of dual front airbags, side thorax airbags, curtain airbags, seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, ESC and ISOFIX mounts helped the sedan deliver high levels of protection. In the official scoring system, the Amaze achieved 28.33 out of 32 points for adult safety.

Child occupant protection was another strong area. The Amaze received a perfect 12/12 for child restraint system installation and high dynamic scores for both child dummies – 7.81/8 for the 3-year-old and 8/8 for the 18-month-old. The ISOFIX system with leg support ensures that rear-facing child seats remain stable during crashes, which is crucial for protecting infants and toddlers. Overall, the car achieved 40.81 out of 49 points for child safety under BNCAP.Bharat NCAP follows procedures similar to Global NCAP and Euro NCAP, evaluating vehicles through demanding frontal and side impact tests as well as child seat compatibility checks. The Honda Amaze is a direct rival to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire in the sub-4 metre sedan category. The Dzire too, had previously been awarded 5-star ratings in the BNCAP.
