The St. Louis Blues are trading forward Nick Bjugstad to the New Jersey Devils.
New Jersey is sending a mid-round draft pick and an AHL player back to St. Louis in the trade.
Bjugstad has six goals and one assist in 35 games with the Blues this season. The 33-year-old is signed through next season at a cap hit of $1.75 million after joining the Blues on a two-year deal in the summer.

Bjugstad had eight goals and 19 points in 66 games with the Utah Hockey Club last season.
Drafted 19th overall by the Florida Panthers in 2010, Bjugstad has 163 goals and 337 points in 795 career games split between the Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Arizona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, Mammoth and Blues.
Trading Bjugstad could be the first of several moves by the Blues ahead of the trade deadline. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported Tuesday that the team is willing to listen on forwards Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn, along with defencemen Colton Parayko and Justin Faulk and goaltender Jordan Binnington.
The Blues currently sit second-last in the NHL with a 20-27-9 record, while the Devils are second-last in the Eastern Conference, 10 points back of the Boston Bruins for the final wild-card spot.
