Chet Holmgren named 2026 NBA All-Star player

Date:

For the second straight year, the Oklahoma City Thunder will send a couple of representatives to the league’s weekend extravaganza. Chet Holmgren was named a 2025-26 NBA All-Star on Sunday. He was part of the reserves.

This is Holmgren’s first career All-Star bid. The other West reserves were Anthony Edwards, Jamal Murray, Chet Holmgren, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Deni Avdija and LeBron James. The East reserves were Donovan Mitchell, Jalen Johnson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Pascal Siakam, Norman Powell, Scottie Barnes and Jalen Duren.

Holmgren has enjoyed a career season. He’s averaged 17.8 points on 57.1% shooting, 8.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He’s shot 37.7% from 3 on 3.6 attempts. He’s also put up two blocks per game. The Thunder have sat atop the NBA standings all season.

The Thunder have had the far-away best defense in the league. No matter what stat you want to look up, they’re at the top or near it. That side of the ball led them to an NBA championship last season. Holmgren has been the anchor on that end of the floor as one of the best rim protectors.

The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 15 at LA’s Intuit Dome. This year’s format will be a round robin tournament. He will join Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the festivities, as he was announced as an All-Star starter for the third straight year.
