iPhone users in the United States have started receiving payments from Apple’s USD 95 million settlement linked to a class action lawsuit over Siri privacy. The payouts began this week, according to multiple users who reported receiving direct deposits. Each claimant was allowed to submit claims for up to five devices. While the total settlement amount was USD 95 million, the final payout per device is lower than earlier estimates. Initial projections suggested users could receive up to USD 20 per device, with a maximum payout of USD 100. However, settlement administrators later calculated that actual payments would be about USD 8.02 per device, with a maximum of USD 40.10 for users who claimed the full five devices.Users who selected direct deposit have begun receiving payments. Those who opted for prepaid gift cards or paper checks are expected to receive them by email or mail. Settlement administrators have advised users to check spam folders and physical mailboxes.
