‘Don’t comment, post views’: Army issues policy on use of social media apps; check guidelines | India News

NEW DELHI: Army has issued policy on the use of social media applications like Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and others, ANI reported cited defence officials on Thursday. According to the guidelines, it has allowed the personnel to access Instagram for “purposes of viewing and monitoring only.“No comments/ views will be communicated on Instagram,” it said.

Here are the guidelines:

For platforms such as YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Quora and Instagram, only passive use for accessing information and knowledge is allowed. Posting user-generated content, messages or other uploads on these apps has not been not permitted.For applications such as Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal, the exchange of unclassified information of a general nature is permitted. Communication via these apps should be restricted to known contacts, and users would be solely responsible for ensuring the correct identification of recipients, according to the guidelines as reported by ANI. LinkedIn may be used solely for uploading a résumé and for seeking information related to prospective employers or employees.
